Community Activities: 

I am not currently involved in any community activities so far. I intend to get involved going forward. Although unrelated, I did lead the citizens petition to bring the “Ranked Choice Voting” for Lexington which was passed by the 2023 Special Town Meeting. I did information sessions with LDTC, LWV and the TMM to clarify their questions. 

Article 43 on the 2024 Town Warrant is asking if the Town will authorize and request the Select Board to petition the General Court of the Commonwealth for Home Rule Legislation to allow any citizens in the Town of Lexington, who have reached the age of 16 or older, to register and vote in municipal elections within the Town, or to take any action in relative thereto. Would you support this article? Why or why not?

I have mixed feelings about this currently. I believe this can foster a sense of civic engagement at an early age leading to learn about politics, government, social issues that can pave the way to a more informed electorate in the long run. My kids used to crave for an extra 15 minutes of sleep on weekday when they were in the high school. They go through a lot, which AP courses to take, which colleges to consider etc., Is it fair to put more responsibility and pressure on them? What about the politicians targeting them on all channels? What about manipulation by parents, authority figures leading to uninformed or even coerced voting choices? And what are the implications on the juvenile delinquency?

So, I like to wait for this to be debated in the Town Meeting.
