The School Building Committee has approved a plan, “Bloom” for the new high school and building on the current playing fields in the Center. Do you support this decision? If not, what would you propose as an alternative?
I support the building of a new high school with MSBA funding. I support a solution that is cost effective and provides the least amount of disruption to the current high school students and faculty. I’ve reviewed the pros and cons of the building options and followed the public meetings and process. There are aspects of the “Bloom” design that I do not like, but I understand the advantages of this option because it has the shortest construction timeframe, is the least disruptive to students and faculty, and would allow us to take advantage of the MSBA funding.
Delaying the building any longer would jeopardize the MSBA funding and would also put the town at risk for more expensive building costs as they continue to increase yearly. I believe we should use the MSBA funding now and commit to building the high school as soon as possible.
I look forward to hearing future discussion and debate about the “Bloom” option.
