The League of Women Voters of Lexington is announcing the start of the First Friday Series with Maggie Peard, Lexington’s Sustainability and Resilience Officer, speaking to Lexington’s new waste collection program.
The Town is planning for the implementation of a modernized waste collection program that will control rising costs and reduce waste. After years of gathering information and collecting public input, the Town has arrived at two options for the program design. This session will outline those two options and be an opportunity for attendees to weigh in on which one they prefer. All feedback gathered at the session will be reported back to the Select Board, who will ultimately approve a final program design.
Maggie Peard has been working for the Town for over four years. In her role as the Sustainability & Resilience Officer, she works on a broad range of projects, spanning from decarbonization, EV charging, community resilience planning, waste reduction, and more. She serves on the Waste Reduction Task Force and has been working closely with the Department of Public Works on the Town's efforts to modernize the waste collection system to better reduce waste and mitigate rising costs.
This program is the first in the 2026-2027 LWV First Friday Forum series hosted by the League of Women Voters to promote awareness and understanding of public policy issues. There will be time for Q&A after the program. LexMedia will record the program.
