As we’ve been forecasting for most of the past year, the actual map-drawing part of the redistricting is now on our doorstep. The 2020 Census data arrived at state legislatures on Thursday, August 12. That data is not yet in the proper format, now must be converted to fit
into map-drawing software. That will apparently take several weeks. We’ve repeatedly asked the legislature – specifically the majority party leadership – to create and adhere to a process that is open, transparent, and nonpartisan. We suspect, however, that
they will keep this as ‘close to the vest’ as they are able, and deliver their results at the very last minute to ward off potential legal challenges.
So…what can we do to stand in opposition? With so much going on, the options may be confusing.
Join All On The Line NC as we prepare to make effective written and verbal public comments during this year's redistricting process.
