100th Anniversary Gala

100th Anniversary Gala

On February 29th over 350 League members and supporters joined in honoring the successes of our foremothers and to support the work still ahead to accomplish the League's mission to empower voters and protect democracy.

  • Special recognition of Mecklenburg County Women Elected to Office since 2000.

  • Keynote Speaker - Cathy Bessant, Bank of America Chief Operating and Technology Officer.

  • Fomer LWVUS President Carolyn Jefferson-Jenkins previewing her book on women of color in the League.

1920 was a landmark year. The 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote was ratified, and the League of Women Voters was founded. Our League of Women Voters Charlotte Mecklenburg was one of the first local leagues in the nation and in North Carolina. 2020 marks the 100th Anniversary. We have much to celebrate!
