The League of Women Voters of Ohio announced at its Statehouse Day on April 11 a new $5 rate for student members.
In the interest of promoting student membership in the League of Women Voters, the LWVO Board has voted to reduce the member dues rate for full-time students to $5 per year. The rate had formerly been $25 per year.
The League is open to anyone, male or female, over the age of 16. There are no barriers to participation in any activity of the LWVO on the basis of race, ethnicity, political or religious beliefs, age, gender, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, citizenship, disability, or socio-economic status.
“Ideally, these students will not just join but become active members now and for years to come,” said Andrea Cobb, chair of the LWVO Membership Committee.
For local Leagues, this means that LWVUS and LWVO will not collect PMP for full-time students. “We hope this will allow our local Leagues in Ohio to experiment with reducing or eliminating local membership dues for students,” said Cobb.
