The League of Women Voters of Greater Cleveland (LWVGC) 2020 Centennial Committee is creating projects on the history of the suffrage movement and the League of Women Voters that will:

      • Underscore the hard work and persistence needed to achieve suffrage so that complacency will not compromise the future of voting rights for women and others
      • Demonstrate the impact of the League of Women Voters, the successor organization of the suffrage movement, as a force for voter empowerment and political reform through nonpartisanship, study, democratic inclusion, and grass-roots decision-making
      • Demonstrate the impact of women entering the political domain
      • Encourage a full and fair discussion of the history of the suffrage movement and the League including any history of non-inclusion based on race, class, ethnicity, and immigration status

Working with the LWVGC board, the 2020 Centennial Celebration Committee hopes to:

      • Increase public awareness and public support for the League of Women Voters and its mission: empowering voters, defending democracy
      • Grow a diverse and inclusive membership, spearheaded by the next generation of leaders
      • Raise funds to invest in the next century of League growth and mission success
      • Establish the League of Women Voters of Greater Cleveland as a force for creating a more perfect democracy in our nation, state, and region in the next 100 years
