What influenced Akron-area voters when they went to the polls on Nov. 6? What direction were they endorsing on the key issues of the day at the national, state and local levels? And what impact will the newly elected leadership have on voting rights, the census and other ways to expand or contract the electorate?
A panel of political experts will analyze the voters’ decisions during a free public forum titled “The Election’s Over! What Did the Voters Say?” sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Akron Area.
The forum will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the fifth-floor auditorium of the InfoCision Stadium Alumni Welcome Center on the University of Akron campus, 341 S. Union St. M.L. Schultze, former WKSU news director and reporter, will moderate the discussion.
Appearing on the panel will be Dr. John Green, interim president of the University of Akron and director of the university’s Ray C. Bliss Center for Applied Politics; Michael Douglas, editorial editor of the Akron Beacon Journal; and Greg Moore, former executive director of the NAACP National Voter Fund.
In addition to the League of Women Voters, co-sponsors of the forum include the Ray C. Bliss Center for Applied Politics at the University of Akron, the Akron Beacon Journal/ Ohio.com, the League of Women Voters of Greater Cleveland and Common Cause Ohio.
