Be a mentor to college women aspiring to run for student government! Volunteer for #ELECTHER

The Women’s Center at Kent State University will be sponsoring an afternoon workshop on Saturday, February 2, in the Reflections Gallery of the May 4 Visitor’s Center for college women to learn how to run for student government. The workshop, presented by Running Start, a nonprofit organization, was developed in collaboration with the American Association of University Women to address the underrepresentation of women in executive levels of student government. The event helps break down barriers to women’s political leadership.

The Women’s Center has invited up to 10 League members to attend the lunch, networking and introduction session beginning at noon to provide participants with information about the League. These members are welcome to stay for the afternoon exercises (Building Your Network, The Elevator Speech, Campaign Simulation) and the keynote speaker, Stephanie Howse, representative for the 11th district of the Ohio House of Representatives. To comply with university policy, the event is nonpartisan, and those attending as part of the League contingent are invited as representatives of that organization and to provide information about the League and not there in any partisan capacity. Contact Stacy no later than Monday, January 28, at 330-697-5723 if you would like to attend. For more information, click here.
