Are you sure you are registered to vote at a local polling place?

South Carolina does NOT have automatic voter registration when you get your driver’s license. And if you have moved from one county to another in South Carolina, you must re-register. So go to VOTE411.org. Enter your personal information in the grey box on the left side of this page to check your registration status and find your polling place.

If you need to register for the first time, or re-register because you’ve moved from one county to another, you have several options:

  1. If you have a current SC Driver’s license, you can register to vote online.   But if your address on your license is incorrect, you must fix your address first. You can do both of these online.
  2. If you don’t have a SC Driver’s license, you can still register to vote. You have two choices: register by mail or in person.
    • Follow VOTE411.org to print out the application. You will need your social security number handy and a copy of something that shows your name and your physical address (not a PO Box). This could be a utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, or other government document. Include a copy of the document and mail the application.
    • Apply in person at the Beaufort County Board of Elections. There are two locations: Beaufort and Bluffton.  Bring your Social Security number and the document that shows your name and physical address.

Although you don’t HAVE to show a photo ID to register to vote, plan to bring one on voting day.

Make sure you are fully registered by October 17—and tell your friends! Go to VOTE411.org
