The League of Women Voters of Texas invites you to a webinar via Zoom 3 - 4 pm, Wednesday, August 5th to kick off statewide promotion of election worker recruitment for the November 3rd General Election!
Join us and learn about a highly effective recruitment effort in one Texas county and ways for all counties to promote election worker recruitment. Even with Vote by Mail limitations, the number of votes by mail significantly increased in July, requiring more election workers to handle them. With July 14th behind us, we know voters are going to turn out in unprecedented numbers at the polling places in November. To provide safe polling places, counties need many more poll workers.
Historically, a majority of our poll workers have been our patriotic senior citizens, and we have concerns about exposing vulnerable populations to Coronavirus /COVID-19. It’s time to attract and train a diverse force of election workers who can empower voters and defend our democracy!
In our webinar, you’ll hear how you can play a role in this critical task!
We’re featuring leaders of a recruitment project that resulted in adding more than 210 potential new workers to supplement Travis County’s election worker pool.
- Liani Lye, Co-Captain, Open Austin
- Daniel Roesler, LWV-Austin Area member and tech entrepreneur
- Juan Gregg Gonzalez, Elections Coordinator (e-worker recruitment), Travis County Elections
Grace Chimene, LWVTX President, will update us on recent county election website review findings and LWVTX plans to support election worker recruitment statewide.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
Help us keep the polls safe! For information on how to stay safe while at the polls, check out our Voting & the Coronavirus page on the LWVTX website. Working together we can ensure that all Texans have their vote count and their voices heard in our elections!
Thank you for all that you do to empower voters and defend democracy!
