Specifically the League believes that additional substance abuse treatment is needed and should include:
- Outpatient, residential and long term treatment facilities
- Treatment for adults, youth 13-17 years and children to age 13 years
- A detox treatment facility
- Operation of facilities by private enterprise, donations and a combination of public funds (local, state and federal)
- Governing boards appointed by sponsoring organizations (i.e. churches, school districts, medical groups, counseling groups)
- Coordinated efforts between all facilities
- If necessary to fund additional facilities, the League supports a tax increase at the local, state and county levels, with approval and cooperation of LWV of those levels.
