USCIS Activities - Reduced Ceremonies
The USCIS Center has greatly reduced the monthly schedule of new citizen ceremonies which allows LWV Irving to provide all necessary volunteers.
When activities increase and additional volunteers are once again needed, the opportunity to support will be renewed.

AT THIS TIME, NO ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO SUPPORT VOTER REGISTRATION AT USCIS CEREMONIES.
Volunteer Schedule - due to decreased weekly ceremonies at the center, previously trained volunteers are capable of fulfilling needed voter services and thus, no posting of scheduled ceremonies will be provided until activity level changes and additional volunteers are needed.
To participate in this Voter Registration activity, you must be:
- a US citizen,
- age 18 or older, and
- A CURRENT MEMBER OF A LOCAL LWV chapter.
The Irving League has become a main provider of volunteers at the United States Immigration and Citizenship Services (USCIS) building located in Irving. In conjunction with personnel from the Dallas County Elections office, volunteers will, at the completion of the ceremony, assist the new citizens with voter registration by providing a Dallas County voter registration card. The new citizens can:
- Complete the registration card and provide to the Dallas County representative who will take the card to the Dallas County Election office for processing.
- Take the registration card home to complete and mail at their convenience. NOTE: Dallas County Elections will forward received completed cards to the Election Office of the applicants County of residence.
The focus and sole purpose of the activity at the USCIS Center is to REGISTER VOTERS. No other type of activity by any volunteer is neither supported nor allowed. This includes passing out written information of any form not supplied directly by the LWV Irving, verbal exchanges of a political nature; etc. Volunteers must remember that the League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization that neither supports nor opposes candidates for public office at any level of government nor does it support or oppose any political party. If you are interested in participating in this activity, you must be a US citizen, age 18 or older, a CURRENT MEMBER OF A LOCAL LWV chapter, and willing to donate 1 to 1 1/2 hours of your time. For first time volunteers, please select a date and time when either Paulette Austin or Phil Smith will be at the ceremony to provide initial training. Then, return to this page and click on the link below to email the Irving LWV webmaster with the local LWV chapter of which you are a member, and the date/time of the ceremony you selected. You will receive a return email confirming the date and time for your service, and the requirement to have some form of LWV membership identification to pass thru security upon entering the building.
For returning volunteers, pick a currently blank column for the date and time that fits your schedule. Return to this page and click on the link below to email your selected date/time to the webmaster. You will receive a return email confirming your date and time slot.
To help ensure that all new citizens receive the information and the opportunity to register, each time slot has openings for a maximum of two volunteers.
NOTE: The Irving League requests that volunteers plan to arrive at the USCIS facility at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time for both the morning and afternoon ceremonies.

Getting to The USCIS Center
The USCIS center is located at 6500 Campus Circle Drive East, Irving, TX 75063.
The easiest route is to go to the Beltline and 114 intersection. Then:
When approaching the intersection from the south, turn right to enter Hwy 114. Stay to the right for a short distance and take the next exit, President George Bush Turnpike. After cresting the hill, take the immediate next right onto Longhorn Drive. Go approximately 100 yards before making a left turn into the large USCIS parking lot. There is a monument type USCIS sign at the entrance to the parking lot.
When approaching the intersection from the north, cross over 114 and turn left to enter Hwy 114. Stay to the right for a short distance and take the next exit, President George Bush Turnpike. After cresting the hill, take the immediate next right onto Longhorn Drive. Go approximately 100 yards before making a left turn into the large USCIS parking lot. There is a monument type USCIS sign at the entrance to the parking lot.
After parking, enter the building through the front doors. You will have to pass through security to gain entrance to the large assembly room were the ceremony takes place. Tell the security guards you are there to assist with providing voter registration forms and information for completing to the new citizens.
