The community discussion group on world affairs, "Great Decisions," will meet for 8 weeks beginning February 12. The meeting place is the German Club Manor (711 Southgate Drive).

The League of Women Voters has partnered with the Lifelong Learning Institute at Virginia Tech to offer the program. Participants must join LLI ($45) and pay the LLI course fee of $35.  Register at

Briefing books aresold out at Volume II bookstore but are available as Kindle ebooks ( and in hard copy from the Foreign Policy Association website ( A copy is also available in the Blacksburg Public Library for in-library use.

Weather policy: Unless you receive an email on the morning of the class announcing that the class has been canceled for weather, the class will meet. (Great Decisions does not follow the Montgomery County Schools closing policy.)

Channel 2 (WTOB) has begun airing the Great Decisions videos (available to subscribers of Comcast). They will run throughout February, March, and early April.

The showing times are Sundays at 4 pm, Mondays at 6 pm, and Fridays at 11 am & 9 pm.
