Committees and Groups 2017-18

50th Anniversary Committee. Co-chairs: Carol Dries and Marsha Carr. This ad-hoc committee is working on activities associated with the 50th Anniversary of the Clallam County League.

Communications Committee. Chair: Carol Dries. The Communications Committee is a new committee which handles news releases and other public announcements and the LWV's web and social media presence.

Healthcare Committee. Chair: Mary Wegmann. The Healthcare Committee studies the status of healthcare and health insurance locally, in Washington and nationally. The Committee presents public information events about healthcare-related issues. The Committee supports and works toward the national League of Women Voters' position on healthcare.  

Membership Committee. Chair: Nell Clausen. The Membership Committee processes new members, manages the membership roster, provides membership information to the State and National Leagues, recruits new members, provides orientations for new members, and plans and presents membership events.

Observer Corps. Chair: Sue Erzen. The Observer Corps is a dedicated group of League members who regularly attend public meetings of local government jurisdictions (such as the Cities of Port Angeles and Sequim and the Board of County Commissioners) and provide written summaries of these meetings to the League membership.  

Voter Services Committee. Chair: Mickie Vail. The Voter Services Committee conducts voter registration efforts throughout the County. The Committee also holds candidate and issues forums prior to special, primary and general elections to educate and inform citizens and help them be better prepared to cast their votes.

Dungeness Watershed Group. Chair: Carrol Hull. The Dungeness Watershed Group is studying issues related to the Future of the Dungeness Watershed. 

Book discussion group. ​Chair: Vicci Rudin. The book group focuses on the current American political scene, as well as the historical events and figures which contributed to it. The book group gives League members an opportunity to discuss political concepts in a nonpartisan manner, to educate themselves on current developments relevant to League positions and concerns, and to share social time with each other. 

Walking group. League members meet on Tuesdays to exercise and socialize on the beautiful Olympic Discovery Trail. Meet at either the west end Carlsborg parking lot at 9:00 am and walk east or at the Audubon Center at 9:30 am and walk west.
