Committees and Groups 2019-2020

Communications Committee. Chair: T Lyn. The Communications Committee handles news releases and other public announcements, production of the annual They Represent You (TRY) brochure and the LWV's web and social media presence.

Education Committee. Chair: Bonnie Bless-Boenish. The Education Committee's current focus is the Kids Voting USA pilot program in Clallam County schools. The Kids Voting USA mission is to: create lifelong voting habits in children, increase family communication about citizenship and encourage greater adult voter turnout. 

Healthcare Committee. Chair: Nancy Field. The Healthcare Committee studies the status of healthcare and health insurance locally, in Washington and nationally. The Committee presents public information events about healthcare-related issues. The Committee supports and works toward the national League of Women Voters' position on healthcare.  

Membership Committee. Chair: Marcia Radey. The Membership Committee processes new members, manages the membership roster, provides membership information to the State and National Leagues, recruits new members, provides orientations for new members, and plans and presents membership events.

Observer Corps. Chair: Katie Woodin. The Observer Corps is a dedicated group of League members who regularly attend public meetings of local government jurisdictions (such as the Cities of Port Angeles and Sequim and the Board of County Commissioners) and provide written summaries of these meetings to the League membership.  

Voter Services Committee. Chair: Paula Barnes. The Voter Services Committee conducts voter registration efforts throughout the County. The Committee also holds candidate and issues forums prior to special, primary and general elections to educate and inform citizens and help them be better prepared to cast their votes.

Water Study Committee (ad hoc committee). Chair: Carrol Hull. The Water Study Committee is examining issues related to the availability of water in Clallam County. 

Book Discussion Group. ​Chair: Vicci Rudin. The book group focuses on the current American political scene, as well as the historical events and figures which contributed to it. The book group gives League members an opportunity to discuss political concepts in a nonpartisan manner, to educate themselves on current developments relevant to League positions and concerns, and to share social time with each other. 

Walking Group. League members meet on Tuesdays to exercise and socialize on the beautiful Olympic Discovery Trail. Meet at either the west end Carlsborg parking lot at 9:00 am and walk east or at the Audubon Center at 9:30 am and walk west.
