A few weeks ago, the Clallam County Commissioners interviewed three candidates for a volunteer position on the County Planning Commission. They interviewed the candidates individually and privately although they usually interview candidates as a group at a public meeting. That was only one anomaly in the interview process that was described in our Observer Report on May 13, 2019 as well as in the Peninsula Daily News. Several League members expressed their concern about this to me. Thanks to our mutual concern and our willingness to act, our President, Linda, and Voter Services Chair, Paula, and I created a statement that Lyn Muench, the original observer, read to at the Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting May 28th. To me, this is League at our best: upholding our principles of open meetings and efficient government.
