I’m sure we’ve all been watching with interest the opening of the first segment of “Skyline”. By the end of September, after UH and schools have resumed regular classes, we should know how much ridership this segment will generate, and thus how many tax dollars will be needed to support it. If you are interested in following the City Council information sessions and policy discussions for LWV-Hnl, please contact me. The League is a non-partisan and credible body of citizens, and an informed member could use our “voice” where appropriate to contribute to future policy decisions.

Many League members have diligently cut their water use to help the Board of Water Supply manage greatly reduced water resources due to the Red Hill fiasco. Many aspects of this situation would benefit from greater citizen involvement, such as encouraging water conservation among League members or the general public, or following and responding to the new information about the problems, current progress, and future management options which is continually released. Contact me if you see a role for yourself representing League in some part of this arena. Meanwhile, enjoy our relatively moderate summer climate – take a hike, enjoy a picnic, or walk down a street you’ve never explored!
