Learn to communicate essential information about OneVirginia2021 and redistricting reform. Our featured speaker will be Brian Cannon, Executive Director of OneVirginia2021. As an attendee you will 1) Deepen your knowledge about Virginia's gerrymandering history; 2) Be able to identify the key concepts about gerrymandering; 3) Write, hone, and practice short speeches about Virginia’s redistricting reform; and 4) Build confidence to speak knowledgeably about redistricting reform.

1:00 – 1:15  Introductions
1:15 – 2:15 "What is Gerrymandering and Why We Should Care" Brian Cannon, Executive Director of OneVirginia2021 will share his knowledge of redistricting reform in Virginia, where we are, and where we are going. He will also share how to avoid language pitfalls. Q & A will follow.
2:15 – 3:15   Creating your gerrymandering speech (in break-out groups)
3:15 – 3:30  Break
3:30 – 4:00  Listen to a few speeches
4:00 – 4:20  Using what you just learned
4:20 – 4:30  Reflection on the day's discussion and work

Please bring paper and pen/pencil to use for taking notes and developing your speech. Snacks will be provided.
