Presidents Day originally honored the nation's first president, George Washington, whose birthday falls in February. However, through the years, both George Washington and Abraham Lincoln (who was born on February 12th) have come to be honored on the third Monday in February, a federal holiday.
While Washington's Birthday is a federal holiday, Abraham Lincoln's birthday is still a California state holiday, falling on February 12 regardless of the day of the week (Wikipedia).
