Welcome! Your membership supports our mission and communities. As a member, get involved by joining a committee, becoming an observer, or helping with special projects. Thank you for your commitment to the League. Volunteer opportunities are available. Check the calendar for updates on meetings and events.
Become a Voter Registrar. It’s easy to become a registrar! As a trained registrar, you'll help people register to vote, check their voter registration, and make name and address changes to their voter registration. Registrars work alongside our members at voter registration and GOTV events throughout the year at our libraries, high schools, farmers markets, and special events. If you would like to become a voter registrar, contact voterservice [at] wheatonlwvil.org (subject: Registrar%20Information) .
Get Out the Vote Committee: Engage with our communities to help them become
informed voters. You can help plan and volunteer at our registration and GOTV events, distributing nonpartisan information about voting and the election process. We advocate citizens to participate in government by VOTING, and we present voter education programs in our communities. Have fun encouraging passersby to play our Civics Game! You may also
work on programs for our local high schools such as creating birthday bags for 18-year-old students that support the importance of voting and walking with high school students to distribute voting information to encourage voting in low-turnout voting neighborhoods. The committee typically meets the fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Interested? Like to learn more? Please send an info [at] wheatonlwvil.org (subject: GOTV%20Committee%20Questions) (email). Candidate Events Committee: During the pandemic, we moved our forums online to create our popular Video Voter Guide for general and local election cycles. We invite all candidates to submit a video to introduce themselves, to answer three questions we provide that pertain to their office, and to make a closing statement. Because the League is considered the expert in presenting non-partisan, informative candidate forums, we also conduct
candidate and referendum forums, virtually and in person. Often, we partner with other local Leagues to present these forums. The committee needs to contact candidates, to develop questions relating to the offices, to upload the videos, and more. The members also maintain a spreadsheet of the candidates. If you’re interested in helping with the forums or video guides, please send an info [at] wheatonlwvil.org (subject: Candidates%20Events%20Committee%20Question) (email). Chair
VOTE411 Committee: Would you like to help get election information out behind the scenes? VOTE411 is the League’s one-stop-shop where voters can find all the information they need to cast their ballots. It’s virtual and nonpartisan. You can help build the candidate information for our elections to create the VOTE411 online voter guide for our communities. No technical experience is necessary; you’ll be trained to get started. Do you have questions about this committee? Please info [at] wheatonlwvil.org (send an email). Judy Beaver, Chair
