  1. Free UBER rides have been offered for the Runoff Election by LWV Macon, LINKS International, Georgia Women, and The Women's Diversity Group.  So far the demand has been light (32 rides and ~20 individuals).  Rides have been available throughout the entire Early Voting period and Jan 5th.

  2. On the last day of Early Voting a Food Wagon, sponsored by LWV Macon, LINKS International, Georgia Women, The Women's Diversity Group and Nikki Randall, was set up near the Board of Elections offering hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, and water to voters.  A lot of people stopped by for refreshments. (See picutre above and two pictures below.)

  3. To all of our dedicated members who have worked so hard this looong election year registering high school students and addressing reminder cards to them; “curing the vote” for absentee ballots that had issues; phone banking to arrange UBER rides to the poles for voters who had transportation problems;  caravanning through neighborhoods to GOTV on National Voting Day in November; manning a food table at the Board of Elections in November and again on the last day of Early Voting in January for voters.  The League also took lunch to the Board of Elections for employees and those working to hand recount the presidential votes.

  4. In January we will be putting our Government Directory together.  If you are interested in helping verify contact numbers, double checking for accuracy, and delivering to various sites once printed call Barbara Knight at 478-461-6746.

  5. Our Board of Elections has done an incredible job with the 2020 elections.  As Chair Mike Kaplin says “it’s like drinking from a hose pipe”.   The job was endless and the demands constantly poured in.   No fraud or lost votes as some would have us believe. Problems at the poles were minimal and dealt with professionally.  Jeanetta Watson and all of her employees deserve a “WELL DONE”.  We all need to send them note of thanks.
