Join the LWV Moscow for a Speaker Series presentation, Two Strategies for Creating Affordable Home Ownership on April 17 at 12 p.m. in the 1912 Center Arts Workshop Room.

Jennifer Wallace, Palouse Habitat for Humanity, and Nils Peterson, Moscow Affordable Housing Trust will talk about why they see home ownership as important and each of their agency’s strategies for creating affordable ownership opportunities. They will also talk about their collaboration underway and any new developments.

Palouse Habitat for Humanity has worked to meet the affordable housing needs of Latah and Whitman Counties since 1992. Jennifer Wallace started with Palouse Habitat as a volunteer in 2007 and has been Executive Director since 2009. To date, Palouse Habitat has built 23 homes and completed 230 home repair projects. These programs depend on local fundraising and volunteer help.

Nils Peterson is celebrating his 10th anniversary as the Executive Director of Moscow Affordable Housing Trust in April. In that time the Trust has sold three houses fee-simple and has 5 houses sold with the Community Land Trust model. The Trust is partnering with the University of Idaho College of Art and Architecture for a third year to allow students to design and build a small home.
