Join the League of Women Voters Moscow for a Speaker Series presentation, Media Literacy, Democracy and the Classroom by Moscow High School Government Teacher Gerald Dalebout at 12 p.m. on April 2 at the 1912 Center Lecompte Auditorium.

As schools nationwide consider stricter policies on cell phone use in the classroom, educators must navigate the balance between minimizing distractions and fostering media literacy. This presentation explores the recent push to limit cell phone access in schools, the impact of digital consumption on student engagement, and the critical role of media literacy in sustaining a strong democracy. Gerald Dalebout has taught U.S. Government since 2011 and just recently started an elective called "Media Literacy and Culture." He was born and raised in Idaho and has lived in Moscow since 2005. He has been married for 17 years to his wife Kate and they have three sons: Liam (14), Finn (10), and Milo (5). You can learn more about him at his website: www.mrdalebout.com.
