Join the LWV Moscow for a Speaker Series event, Political Communication and Misinformation: What Do We Know and What Can We Do?, on Wed., Nov. 2 at noon in the Lecompte Auditorium at the 1912 Center in Moscow, presented by Dr. Porismita Borah.

In the current political environment of hyper-partisanship and high-tech communications, how does misinformation spread? What are some of the consequences of misinformation; why do people believe in misinformation; and what can we do to combat misinformation?

Dr. Borah is an Associate Professor at the Edward R. Murrow of Communication, and a member of the graduate faculty in the Prevention Science program, at Washington State University. She holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She primarily studies message effects in digital environments in the context of both politics and health. Dr. Borah is editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Public Opinion Research. As a nationally published scholar, she has received funding for her research from multiple sources including the national Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the Poynter Institute.
