Join the League of Women Voters of Moscow for our Speaker Series event, Ready to Run?: The Gender Gap in Pursuing Political Office, presented by Kylee Britzman at 12 p.m. PT.

When women and men run for political office they tend to win at similar rates. Yet there are a variety of factors that keep women from running for office in the first place. This talk will highlight the political science research on seeking political office and what keeps qualified candidates from running including factors like media representation, candidate stereotypes and gaps in fundraising.

Britzman is an assistant professor of political science at Lewis-Clark State College. She received her doctorate in 2018 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her teaching and research interests include gender and politics, political psychology, and environmental politics.
