“Without Fear or Favor:  Journalistic Independence in a Hyper-Partisan Era” is the title of a Speakers Forum program to be hosted by the Moscow League of Women Voters at 6:30 pm Pacific Time on Wednesday, February 9, 2022.  Join via Zoom: https://bit.ly/LWVMSpF.

The program will feature three panelists who bring diverse perspectives from traditional print media, the academic setting, and nonprofit online publishing.

  • Nathan Alford is publisher of the family-owned Moscow-Pullman Daily News and Lewiston Tribune.  A graduate of the University of Idaho and Gonzaga University School of Law, he has held leadership positions in the family’s newspaper business for nearly two decades. 
  • Kenton Bird is associate professor of journalism at the University of Idaho, and past director of the university’s School of Journalism and Mass Media. He holds degrees from the University of Idaho, the University of Wales, and Washington State University.  His teaching focus includes mass media and public opinion, news reporting, and science writing.
  • Christina Lords is editor-in-chief of the Idaho Capital Sun, a new nonprofit online news organization reporting on state government, politics, and policy.  A University of Idaho graduate, she previously led the Idaho Statesman in Boise, and served as a reporter and editor at newspapers in Moscow, Idaho Falls, and Nampa.
