 DEI DISCUSSION GROUP

We will have conversations broadly related to DEI that might include books (fiction and nonfiction), TED talks, speakers, attending an event and then having a conversation about the event or other ideas anyone has. This group will be moderated by Marianne Hunnicutt. The discussions will be led by a member of the group each month. The discussions will be held the third Thurday of the month  7:00- 7:30pm via Zoom.

 

The fall calendar is:

September 21 – The Vanishing Half (fiction) by Britt Bennett facilitated by Marianne Hunnicutt

October 19 – The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together by Heather McGee facilitated by Jenneine Rowley-Gilroy

November 12 and 16 – Attend Diwali Celebration sponsored by the Village of Woodridge on Sunday and discuss reactions on Thursday evening facilitated by Mary Hobein

The spring calendar is

 Tuesday, February 27 - Conversation around housing equity as a follow-up to the informational joint AAUW/LWVDGWL panel on January 18th (Jenneine Rowley-Gilroy and Marianne Hunnicutt moderate)
 
Thursday, March 21 - Conversation around December 2023 issue of The Atlantic To Reconstruct the Nation (Nancy Peraino and Marianne Hunnicutt moderate)
 
Thursday, May 2 – Discussion of Crying in H Mart: A Memoir by Michelle Zauner (Carol Jeanne Davis and Marianne Hunnicutt moderate)  

 

 
Everyone is welcome to attend any discussion. Those on the DEI group list from last year will receive a Zoom link about a week in advance of the discussion.
