The LWVEA monthly meeting will be on May 23 at 7:00 pm at St. John’s United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 7372 Marine Road, Edwardsville.  The topic will be LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES:  COMPOSTING

Mary Grose from the Good Dirt Composting Collective will present the second in a series of program meetings on Local Environmental Issues offered by the League of Women Voters of the Edwardsville Area.  The community is invited to the Thursday, May 23 meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of St. John’s United Methodist Church, 7372 Marine Road, Edwardsville.

Mary Grose is a civic volunteer and environmental activist with a history of involvement and contributions in local efforts.  Good Dirt Composting Collective is a community organization whose goal is to educate the community about composting.  Attendees will learn how to turn food scraps and yard trimmings into a valuable resource for a happy, healthy home garden. Our speaker will also provide information about the local single-use bag ordinance, an effort she and the local organization Bring Your Own Glen-Ed were involved in.

The third Local Environmental Issues program will be held in August and will address food waste and reuse.

LWVEA Monthly Programs are nonpartisan and any comments by speakers will be their own and will not represent LWVEA. Those interested in LWVEA membership are encouraged to attend Monthly Program Meetings or for more information search League of Women Voters of the Edwardsville Area on the web or Facebook.
