Join the League of Women Voters of the Edwardsville Area walking in the Glen Carbon Homecoming Parade on Saturday, June 15 at 4:00 pm
The LWV will be walking in the Glen Carbon Homecoming parade on Saturday, June 15th, and we still welcome volunteers to join us. Membership in the LWV is not required. We'd love to have a multi-generational group, so bring those kiddos. And, GOOD NEWS, well behaved dogs are welcome...please bring their toiletries with you. The theme this year is PEACE LOVE HOMECOMING.
OUR GOAL is to build enthusiasm and awareness of the importance of this election, and to remind people to get registered.
THE WEATHER It looks like it may be a very hot day so please plan accordingly with light weight clothing and plenty of water. Please remember the LWV is a nonpartisan organization; we ask you to keep this top of mind. Cancellation of the event will only be issued for downpour or lightning.
THE DETAILS We will line up for the parade beginning at 4 pm in the New Bethel United Methodist Church parking lot, located at 131 N. Main St., Glen Carbon, IL. No entry to this staging area will be allowed after 4:30. For those unable to walk the approximate 1 mile parade route, please meet at the top of the hill on the north end of Main St.. Join us when the parade gets there; the more, the merrier! We will step off at 5 pm and head up Main St, ending at the Wooden Nickel (the corner of Main & School St).
The parade is short, low key and generally well attended. Our 'float' will toss candy and carry appropriate signs. We also have an energetic playlist...feel free to express yourself!!!
One thing for sure, it will be fun, and our message is important.
