The LWVEA March Monthly Meeting will be in person on Wednesday, March 20 at 7:00 pm, Location:  In the Basement Meeting Room of the Mannie Jackson Center for the Humanities at 1210 Main Street, Edwardsville, IL   Subject: Edwardsville School District 7 Update with Dr. Patrick Shelton.The community is invited to the February 15 Monthly Meeting of the League of Women Voters of the Edwardsville Area.  The speaker is Dr. Patrick Shelton, Superintendent of Edwardsville Community Unit School District # 7. His presentation will provide an update on District # 7 bond projects, and highlight some of the upcoming initiatives from the District #7 Strategic Plan. In April of 2023, District #7 voters approved a $100 million dollar bond referendum that will have an impact in every school. Dr. Shelton will address the status of the projects which include facility needs, essential safety and security upgrades and other identified critical maintenance needs and provide an improved learning environment for students. Following his presentation Dr. Shelton will entertain questions from the audience regarding the bond projects and other topics related to the schools. 

Dr. Shelton assumed the District # 7 superintendency in July of 2021 following 11 years of service in Missouri schools. Prior to that, he served as a principal in Wood River, IL, and teacher in Staunton, IL.

The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the basement meeting room of the Mannie Jackson Center for the Humanities at 1210 N. Main Street in Edwardsville. Handicapped access to the meeting room is available on the Main Street side of the building.  There is also an entrance on the south side of the building.

The LWVEA serves the area of the Edwardsville Community Unit School District #7 which includes Edwardsville, Glen Carbon, Worden, Hamel, and surrounding rural areas. "The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan, political organization. Our focus is promoting voting and offering programs to inform and educate voters.," said Anne Masters, LWVEA President.
