Learn More About the League

The League is the most respected and effective grassroots political organization in our country. Your membership gives the League the influence needed to build a voice for democracy and be a force for change. We care about:

  • Social Policy - Wealth concentration, health care including mental health, reproductive rights, criminal justice and public safety, gun violence prevention, immigration, public education, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Natural Resources - Climate crisis, land and water use, and plastics reduction.
  • Government Issues - Equal rights for all, voting rights, election law, money in politics, fiscal/tax policy, and ethics.

If you are ready to be a defender of democracy, then it's time to join the League of Women Voters of Roselle-Bloomingdale! As a member of our local League, you are also a member of the Leagues of Women Voters of the United States and of Illinois.

Some of our members are active and busy with League activities throughout the year – registering voters, supporting League positions, keeping our community informed, and more. Some of our members join to support our mission. Please review our essential League documents to learn more.

Program Planning

Program planning is our local League's yearly opportunity to give input as part of the LWV grassroots network. In odd years, we opine on Illinois issues; in even years, national. Below are links to useful documents for this meeting, including a brief compilation of our current LWV of Illinois positions on numerous pubic policy issues.

All members are invited and encouraged to attend.

We also take this opportunity to outline our local League's priorities for the coming year. This plan will be formally voted on by the membership at the Annual Meeting.
