GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION: Changes in Laws, F.R.O.*,HB 562 & More: IL STATE SENATOR RAM VILLIVALAM, Author & Sponsor of HB 562

*F.R.O~ Firearms Restraining Order, passed/in effect in 2019: allows families/police to ask a judge to temporarily remove guns drom a person who may be a threat to themselves or others.

*HB 562~passed 8/2/21, effective 1/2022, is a "comprehensive gun safety & licensure modernization package" designed "to protect families from increased gun violence." (From the IL Senate) 

Jim McGrath has worked with NWSOFA (Northwest Suburbs Organizing for Action) & organized the Barrington Moms Demand Action. He was named LWVIL Gun Violence Prevention Issues Specialist, giving presentations throughout the state.

 IL State Senator Ram Villivalam has represented the 8th Senate District since January 2019. He is on the Board of the Gun Violence Prevention PAC, was the former Legislative Coordinator for the SEIU (Service Employees International Union) & is the first Asian American & Indian American elected to the IL Senate.
