Let's Talk About It: Women's Suffrage: Michelle Duster. Ida B. the Queen: The Extraordinary Life and Legacy of Ida B. Wells

Tuesday, May 10, 2022 - 7:00pm
In our fourth discussion, we get an in-depth look at Ida B. Wells-Barnett, written by her great-granddaughter, journalist Michelle Duster. Ida B. the Queen: The Extraordinary Life and Legacy of Ida B. Wells is a historical portrait of the boundary-breaking civil rights pioneer that covers Wells' early years as a slave, her famous acts of resistance, and her achievements as a journalist and anti-lynching activist.

Leading our discussion series is Joshua Fulton, Associate Professor of History, Moraine Valley Community College. Professor Fulton will open the program, bringing the book to life with insights and background on the author and the work. This will be followed by group discussion.

Let’s Talk About It: Women’s Suffrage is a humanities discussion project from the American Library Association (ALA) supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).
