Reading is Rocket Science: What Voters, Parents, and Educators Need to Know about Early Literacy Instruction--Webinar

In lllinois, only 33% of 4th graders scored proficient in reading in 2019. In the New Trier District, approximately 33% of 3rd and 4th graders failed to meet grade-level standards from 2015-2019.

The good news is that according to the National Institute of Health, 95% of children could learn to read if evidence-based methods were used in our classrooms. 21 other states have already passed legislation to remedy the issue.

This program will explain the science of early reading instruction, give a short overview of potential policy solutions, and provide insights from a local school district superintendent who is taking a leadership role in bringing reform to Illinois.
