NEW MEMBERSHIP ENROLLMENT COMING SOON!
We are very pleased to announce that the League of Women Voters of the US has completed a long-awaited transformation in its membership structure and enrollment process.
These changes at the national level are in response to a growing call to unify and expand our powerful grassroots organization, increase investment at the state and local levels where advocacy is often most impactful, and reduce the administrative burden on local volunteers.
The new LWV membership enrollment will go live in early February 2025.
As always, membership in the LWV grants full membership to the national, state and local leagues. Now, members will join and renew through one national platform, with the link available on any League website.
The enrollment process will be streamlined so that you will be able to control your account through the “ChapterSpot” portal that will soon be available by link on our website. ChapterSpot is a centralized membership portal where any person can join or renew their membership, and find their state and local leagues by zip code search. Creating an online membership account will require only a valid email address; no passwords are required.
Other features: Reminders to renew will automatically be sent to members by the LWVUS. Membership will be on a rolling 12-month basis. Payment options will include credit card, debit card, and bank ACH transfer. The option to join with a paper mail-in form and check will continue.
MEMBERSHIP RATES & CATEGORIES -- The new recommended annual dues is $75. The minimum dues will be $20. Pay-as-you-can option remains, with any amount of $20 or more for membership. Membership categories are Individual or Lifetime. Student category is eliminated. Household category is eliminated.
NATIONAL, STATE, & LOCAL SHARE -- The LWVUS will take in all dues payments directly from members. They will divide the membership payment, whatever amount is received, as follows:
DIRECT DONATIONS, SEPARATE FROM DUES PAYMENTS -- Many generous donors and members contribute separately to support the LWV-Worcester Area, making it possible for us to provide services and purchase materials for outreach programs. Anyone seeking to support the local, state or national League with a direct donation (in addition to or instead of membership dues) still has the option to do so.
