Lake Michigan College and its Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are proud to announce the return of the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Week, taking place January 20–25, 2025. This year’s theme, Creating the Beloved Community, highlights Dr. King’s inspiring vision of a world anchored in justice, equality, and compassion—where love triumphs over hate.

Dr. King’s dream of a “beloved community” calls for bold, collective action and the courage of individuals to speak truth to power. Throughout the week, attendees will have opportunities to reflect on his ideals and contribute to meaningful change in their own communities.

Community members are invited to participate in the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Week events, beginning with the Community Celebration on January 20, 2025. Throughout the week, we will explore Dr. King’s ideals and the steps we can take to bring his dream of a “beloved community” to life. With events designed to educate, inspire, and empower, this is your opportunity to reflect on his legacy, celebrate cultural heritage, and contribute to positive change. Together, let’s honor Dr. King and recommit to advancing equity and justice for all.
