Recording Summary
LWVCC discussed the potential impact of President Trump's foreign policy on international relations, particularly with regards to the US's relationships with its neighbors, Canada, Mexico, and Cuba, as well as the geopolitical implications of the US election on NATO and Russia. They also touched on the ongoing issues between China and the 9-dash line in the South China Sea, the challenges and potential solutions for the US-Israel relationship, and the accomplishments of the previous administration in foreign affairs. Lastly, they discussed the influence of ambassadors, the potential effects of Elon Musk's satellite control over Taiwan and Ukraine, and the potential economic consequences of tariffs.
September 19, 2024 - LWVBCC Town Hall on "Christian Nationalism and Its Impact on Politics & Religion". Interfaith Action of SW Michigan was a cosponsor of this event. Microplastics in the Great Lakes is an emerging water quality issue that has a huge potential of impacting human health and the aquatic environment. It has been estimated that microplastics are consumed by the US population at a rate of 5 grams per week -- the weight of a credit card. Microplastics are an emerging water quality problem in theGreat Lakes and affect our quality of life and threaten our state economy and our valuable water resources. Art Hirsch Is a former environmental consultant with over 30 years of experience.
