A completed absentee ballot must be received by a voter's city or township clerk by 8 p.m. on Election Day (August 2) to be counted.  

Beginning Wednesday, July 20, a voter should return their ballot in person, either to their city or township clerk's office, or to a satellite office or secure drop box provided by their clerk.  Voters can find the location of their city or township clerk's office(s), satellite office(s), and drop boxes by searching for their city or township clerk on MVIC.

A voter may only use a drop box within their jurisdiction, but they can use any drop box within their jurisdiction.  For example, a voter in Detroit may use any drop box within the city of Detroit, but they may not use a drop box in Ferndale.
