As part of the Dearborn Memorial Project's "Adopt, Honor and Remember" initiative to recognize fallen military members, the LWV DDH is sponsoring Cpl Helen E. Fluckey, a member of the United States Marine Corps Women's Reserve.

The League is honored to have been asked to sponsor the only female veteran included in the group of 347 individuals listed on the Dearborn War Memorial.

Cpl Fluckey was born on December 18, 1921 and died on October 29, 1944.  While stationed at Santa Barbara, California, Cpl Fluckey died after having fainted and never regaining consciousness.  She was only 22 years old.

You will see a picture of Cpl Helen Fluckey on a yard sign on the lawn of one of our member's homes on Cherry Hill.
