CITIZENS FOR PEACE PRESENT Learning from Women Peace Leaders With Laura Dewey Tuesday, May 10th, 2022 @ 7 PM

Women have always been change makers, peace makers, and future makers. From working for 70 years to get the vote to working for peace, women have engaged in various forms of struggle, using different tactics and strategies. This talk will touch on women's involvement in struggles in peace, labor, and civil rights and weave in the history of the Women’s International League for Peace & Freedom (WILPF). By looking at the past, activists can learn lessons for today's times of declining democracy, growing military spending, and the existential threat that is climate change. Laura Dewey is a long-time peace and justice activist who is the Coordinator of the Detroit Branch of WILPF. She serves on the Convening Committee of Jobs with Justice and represents WILPF in the Detroit Area Peace with Justice Network. For the zoom link, go to Citizens for Peace
