Important August Primary dates and information from Promote the Vote

ELECTION PROTECTION
The August election is about one month away. Here are some important dates and deadlines to keep in mind:
NOW: Request your absentee ballot online or submit a paper application OR vote in-person at your city or township clerk’s office
 
JULY 24: Last day to register to vote online or by mail (after July 24, you’ll need to register in person at your city or township clerk’s office with proof of residency)
 
JULY 25: Last day that we recommended dropping your ballot in the mail (after July 25, we recommend dropping your ballot off at your city or township clerk’s office or in a secure dropbox provided by your clerk)
 
AUGUST 7: If you’re already registered to vote where you live, you can vote absentee in person at your city or township clerk’s office until 4 p.m. on August 7 (after that, you must vote at your polling location on Election Day)
 
AUGUST 8: Election day! The polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. local time. If you need to register, you can register at your city or township clerk’s office until 8 p.m. Once registered, you can vote at your clerk’s office or at your polling location.

Finally, if voters have questions or encounter issues while voting or trying to vote, we encourage them to email questions [at] michiganvoting.org or to call 866-OUR-VOTE. Promote the Vote will not be managing a Michigan Call Center for the August election, but we will be monitoring the calls that come into the hotline and will respond and take action as necessary.
