Position

The League of Women Voters of Benton and Franklin Counties supports expending all efforts to utilize district and community resources to maximize the educational experience of each student. This League also supports schools having an interest in promoting the health of their students.

The first Great Decisions meeting of 2019 will be Monday January 28th at 7:00 PM at the Benicia Public Library, Dona Benicia room. The topic for the first week is Refugees and Global Migration. Today no countries have open borders.

  The  Illinois Association of School Boards’ resolution, which would give school districts the option to train and arm staff, was defeated by a vote of 203 -179 on November 17, 2018. Watch

LWV 2018 GENERAL ELECTION ISSUE ENDORSEMENTS

 

ISSUE 14

The League of Women Voters of Kent strongly encourages a “YES” vote for Issue 14, a 2.0 mill, five-year levy renewal to support the continued operations of the Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The levy, which would currently cost the owner of a $100,000 home just under $30 per year, has been in place since 1989.

The Education Committee studied the charter schools within Fresno Unified's boundaries. The report was completed in October 2018.
