The November meeting of the Gun Violence Prevention & Safety Committee is canceled. The next meeting will be Tuesday, December 19.

LWVAC's new Gun Violence Prevention & Safety Committee will meet by Zoom on the third Tuesday of each month. We are brainstorming what we can do to augment the efforts of the other community partners are doing to prevent gun violence and promote gun safety.

As part of our Listen and Learn series, we are hoping to hear from a representative from Alachua County regarding their efforts to reduce gun violence. We will then discuss our own activities to augment those efforts.

Join us for our panel discussion about secure gun storage. In addition to advocating for laws that require secure storage of firearms in homes and vehicles, we use the Be SMART framework to have conversations with parents and caregivers about keeping children from accessing loaded firearms...

Peace Week Art Display at Lewes Library

The Sussex LWV and the Chesapeake Bay Girl Scouts Troop 665 happy to announce that the Peace Week Delaware art exhibit is on display at the Lewes Library from October 7 - 30. Please drop by the Lewes Library for a look! 

The Poetry Reading will be held on October 12, 2024, from 12:30 - 2:00 pm in the large conference room.

In another Listen and Learn session, the Gun Violence Prevention and Safety committee met with Alachua County Commissioner Anna Prizzia who updated the team on what Alachua County is doing to curb gun violence and promote gun safety as well as how the committee could augment those efforts. A recording of the meeting is now available....
