Our monthly Lunch with a Leader, will be via zoom on Thursday, September 15, from noon-1PM. Our speaker will be Anne Laurent who is Los Alamos County’s Deputy County Manager overseeing Broadband and Public Relations & Communications divisions within the County Manager’s Office, and the Community Services Department.

Prior to moving to Los Alamos in 2008 to serve as the Capital Projects & Facilities Director, Anne lived and worked in both Arizona and Michigan as an architect and project manager. Anne became the Community & Economic Development Director in 2012 when her department was merged with the Community Development Department. Anne moved to Park City Utah to serve as their Community Development Director for four years in 2015 before returning to Los Alamos to be the Public Works Director in 2019. She was promoted to Deputy County Manager in 2021.

Anne holds a BFA and BArch from the Rhode Island School of Design and a MPA from the University of Colorado – Denver. She is a NM licensed architect and holds PMP (project management) and CEcD (economic development) certifications. She will discuss what is happening in the Community Services Department and describe what they are responsible for, go over how it relates to Pueblo Canyon, the golf course, and why they spend large sums of money on consultants before having a clear idea what the community would like.

Anne grew up in Arizona and met her husband after college working for Arizona State Parks. After marrying, she and Steve moved to Michigan for Steve to attend law school and to be closer to his aging parents; and is where their two kids, Frances and Maxim, were born. After nine years in Michigan, their desire to return to the southwest, especially a place with the rich history and culture of northern New Mexico, brought them to Los Alamos. Anne and Steve moved away from Los Alamos for great job opportunities, but truly missed the community of Los Alamos and look forward to living, working, playing and loving Los Alamos for many years to come.
