The Los Alamos League of Women Voters' community event, Lunch with a Leader, is 12 - 1 pm Thursday, August 18 via zoom.

The speaker is Sara Ann Mason of the Citizen's Climate Lobby (CCL). This group empowers every day people to work with their community and members of Congress on climate change solutions. THeir supporters cover the political spectrum and work in more than 450 local chapters. Together, they are building support for a national bipartisan solution to climate change.

This presentation will discuss how CCL engages the five levers of political will:

  • Lobbying Congress;
  • Media Relations;
  • Grassroots Outreach;
  • Grass Tops Engagement; and
  • Group Developing and Organizing--to motivate Congress to bring about the political change we need for a livable world.

Mason is originally from Houston, TX, but moved to Los Alamos around five years ago after completing a PhD in Spanish at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She became interested in climate after watching her home state experience devastating weather events while copig with ever-present five dange here in New Mexico.
