We Demand The Right To Vote: The Journey to the 19th Amendment, by Meneese Wall, is a five-time award-winning book that offers an informative and illustrated overview of women’s first civil rights movement known as Women’s Suffrage—women’s 72-year fight to win the right to vote in the United States, while also chronicling women’s social and political advancements along the way. We Demand the Right To Vote is written from the national movement’s perspective and commences with Native American cultural influences and continues with women’s conventions, arrests, trials, petitions, battles won, and those lost to reveal women’s pivotal role in the passage of the 19th Amendment and society’s slow acceptance of women’s involvement outside of their socially prescribed realm.
This event is put on in partnership with the Los Alamos League of Women Voters and the exhibition Women's Votes, Voters' Voices, which is showing in the Step Up Gallery at Mesa Public Library from 8/21/21-9/21/21.
