The White Plains Common Council held its regularly-stated monthly meeting on August 3, 2020. As usual, a public hearing on 52 N. Broadway was postponed for another month. A local allowing for civil forfeiture of vehicles used in drag races was introduced, and a public hearing will be held September 8.

The council approved of the following:

  • Property tax refunds totaling $80,600
  • A salary increase for an officer of the Housing Authority
  • A three-year extension of site plan approval for an independent living facility at 303-317 North Street and also one-year extensions for other projects
  • Borrowing $100,000 to cover additional costs of pedestrian and bicycle improvements (presumably the Martine Avenue project).

At the Citizens to be Heard session, residents spoke about the imaginary threat from 5G antennas.

In addition, a special meeting was held on August 6 to pass an ordinance temporarily extending outdoor dining by allowing seating to be placed in on-street parking spots.
