The White Plains Common Council held its regularly-stated monthly meeting on October 2, 2023.  A public hearing for a special cabaret permit for Don Coqui was held, and the permit was approved.  On December 4, a public hearing will be held for an amended site plan for the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center.

The council approved:
  • A capital project to spend $120,000 on storage racks for the fire houses and about $576,000 for 115 TASERs
  • Grants for $240,000 for Youth Bureau programs
  • A grant for $400,000 for a Vision Zero Action Plan for safer streets
  • An amendment to the gasoline-powered leaf blower ban to allow them from October 15 to December 15 through 2025 (approved 4-3)
  • Property tax refunds of approximately $164,600, largely for Neiman-Marcus
  • A site plan extension for a project at 37 DeKalb Avenue
At the Citizens to be Heard session, many people spoke about the ban on gasoline-powered leaf blowers; also about the redevelopment of the Galleria, flooding in the Highlands, the closing of the movie theater, and about 5G antennas.
