City Council continues homelessness debate until Oct. 29 to allow for public comment
A joint meeting of the Torrance City Council and Social Services Commission to discuss a response to the community’s growing homeless population was continued until Oct. 29 to allow for more public discussion.
The 4: 30 p.m. meeting Tuesday attracted an unusually large crowd of about 100, but time constraints prevented any substantive debate by either the public or panelists, much to the annoyance of many in the audience as well as public officials, Councilman Mike Griffiths said.
Because Oct. 29 is a fifth Tuesday of the month and no council meeting originally was scheduled, the entire evening will be devoted to the issue that’s causing increasing public concern.
It’s set to begin at 7: 30 p.m. at City Hall, 3031 Torrance Blvd.
